Until then, due to their exceptional measures, the Ultim (since 2010) were forced to position themselves outside, on the side of the Stock Exchange ferry terminal. This year the 8 Ultims will join the fleet of 8 Ocean Fifty, 37 Imoca, 55 Class40, 14 Rhum Mono and 16 Rhum Multi in the Vauban and Duguay-Trouin basins. All the boats will thus be grouped along the quays, at the foot of Intra-Muros and the Palais du Grand Large.

The plan of the boats present in the port of Saint-Malo for the Rum Route 2022:

Where to stop to see the boats on departure day?

Groin’s point

The starting line of the race is in front of this rocky promontory, located in the town of Cancale. Suffice to say, there will be people around the traffic light! Like four years ago, access to the point will be exclusively pedestrian. Change for this edition: the endpoint will be blocked, in order to preserve the site. This shouldn’t be a problem for spectators, as the starting line has been moved to the west. One-way traffic, along the coastal road, in the direction of Pointe du Grouin-Saint-Malo and parking on the seaside of the road is prohibited.

It is strongly recommended to arrive early (very early) to be well located. La Pointe du Grouin is a sensitive natural area. Be careful not to trample the vegetation and stay in the dedicated areas. It is also a place that can be dangerous. Be careful to supervise children.

Between Cancale and Saint-Malo

Culminating 46 meters above the sea, the Pointe du Meinga is a magnificent view of the coast. Second most advanced rocky promontory in the sea of the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, the place can be a good solution to avoid the great crowd. Another possibility: Pointe des Grands-Nez, also in Saint-Coulomb.

in Saint Malo

Closed to car traffic, Punta del Varde will welcome hundreds of onlookers. Away from the city center, it is a good place to watch the fleet of competitors go by. Bring binoculars though. In the city, in the Race Village, giant screens will broadcast the start live.

Between Dinard and Cape Fréhel

In Saint-Lunaire, at the tip of Le Décollé. In Saint-Briac, on the Pointe de la Garde-Guérin. In Saint-Cast-Le-Guildo: Pointe de L’Isle and Pointe de la Cordière.

From Cape Fréhel

With the Pointe du Grouin in Cancale, it is the other essential place to experience the atmosphere of departure. Accessible on foot, by bicycle (exclusive parking on site), by shuttle starting at 9 am from the Plévenon and Fréhel car parks. The sailboats saw a buoy at the foot of the cliffs, before heading towards Guadalupe. Thousands of people will flock to this protected site. Nearby, Fort la Latte also offers a beautiful view.
