[UNBOXING] MSI RTX 4090 Suppress Liquid X – Overclocking.com

This Wednesday, October 5 at 3:00 p.m., a first NDA ends (Non-Disclosure Agreement) that authorizes us to reveal the photos of this RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X that we receive directly from MSI France. A very special thanks to MSI France as it is the only sample available in France! As you know from NVIDIA announcements, custom RTX 4090s will be available starting October 12.

A first “Suprim Liquid X”:

If the “Suprim” series is well known in MSI, this is the first time that the brand offers a version with an autonomous liquid cooling system of the AIO type. Combining such cooling with the “Suprim” series should give us a high-end, high-performance card.

Therefore, the card will incorporate a liquid cooling system consisting of a water block responsible for keeping the GPU and memory chips cool, but also a 240mm radiator to dissipate heat. We are therefore in an AIO type liquid circuit, that is, pre-installed. You receive your copy of the RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X and install it directly on your PC.

The two fans that equip the radiator are 120mm MSI Silent Gale P12 models, designed to provide a large airflow with very little noise pollution. If the temperature is cold enough, they will remain at rest. To optimize this cooling, a TORX 5.0 fan cools a heatsink placed on the power stages of the PCB. This fan is inserted through an octagonal cutout in the cover in brushed aluminium.

Two sides of this octagon benefit from an RGB backlight feature, but also from the “Suprim” inscription on the top edge, as well as from the logo placed on the back plate, also in brushed aluminium. Finally, note that the card has two BIOSes: silent Y gaming.

This MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X benefits from NVIDIA’s new architecture, ie “ADA Lovelace”. This was meant to replace the Ampere architecture of the GeForce RTX 30xx released just over two years ago.

This NVIDIA flagship model features an AD102-300 GPU with 16384 CUDA cores. It has 24 GB of GDDR6X memory with a bandwidth of 1 TB/s and sees its TDP reach 450 watts. The speed of this RTX 4090 should be 2-4 times faster than the RTX 3090 Ti according to NVIDIA.

Technical specifications:

As for the frequency, the basic one is announced at 2235 MHz as for the Boost points to…, a little more patience! The 24 GB of G-DDR6 memory runs at 1313 MHz (1008 GB/s) on a 384-bit bus.

Our MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X benefits from a very good overclock face card factory Founders Edition from NVIDIA, but we’ll talk about that in the full review of the card. The memory frequency, on the other hand, is also 1313 MHz.

We find as power connectors the new 16-pin mini-connector. MSI provided in its package an adapter that allows you to connect no less than four 8-pin connectors. Finally, the card has, in the video outputs, three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.1 port.

As you can see, we use the adapter delivered in the package and that it must be powered through 4 PCI-e cables. We are waiting for the CORSAIR 12VHPWR 600W cable so we can combine it with our Corsair HX1500i power supply. See you on October 12 to discover the performance of this MSI RTX 4090.
