Paris Motor Show 2022: the 10 electric novelties that unfortunately we will not see

If there are great news to discover at the Mondial de l’Automobile, there is no denying that many brands will not come to Paris. Too bad they won’t take this opportunity to reveal their 2023 stars to the public. Here are the ones we would have liked to see.

bmw i7

BMW is electrifying its range at high speed. Following the release of i4 and iX in 2021, 2022 is the year of iX1 and i7. As its name indicates, these models are the electric versions of the new X1 and Series 7. The i7 dares with an original look, with a huge grille and a two-story look. It is launched in a strong 544 hp xDrive 60 version. The autonomy is 625 km. The price is high: €139,900.

Citroen Oli

Surprise, Citroën will not be at the Paris Motor Show, while DS and Peugeot will be. However, the chevron brand has new products on the shelf, such as the ë-C4 X. Above all, it has just presented an important concept car, the Oli, which symbolizes its vision of more affordable and sustainable electric mobility. Therefore, it is very curious not to show it to the public!

hyundai kona

Sure, we could have put in the Ioniq 6, which is due to hit our roads in early 2023. But it’s a confusing-looking big sedan, which won’t be Hyundai’s best-selling electric model with us. The French market eagerly awaits the renewal of the Kona Electric. The second generation is desired, while many prototypes have been seen.

Kia EV9

The second member of the “EV” family is long overdue. While the EV6 hit dealerships a year ago, the EV9 is set to launch in 2023. It’s a large SUV, more tailored for the North American market. But it will be offered in Europe, where it has carried out part of its development tests. The important model for Kia here remains the Niro, refreshed this year.

lexus rz

The RZ is the first Lexus electric vehicle designed on a dedicated foundation for this type of engine. This platform is the same as the Toyota bZ4X. In the RZ, there are two engines, one on each axle, for a maximum cumulative output of 313 hp. On the other hand, the 71.4 kWh battery provides a somewhat limited range for a premium family SUV, that is, just over 400 km.

Maserati Gran Turismo

The GranTurismo is finally back in the Maserati range. With surprise: along with the thermal versions, equipped with a V6 biturbo, it has a 100% electric version, the Folgore. It receives three motors. The maximum power sent to the wheels is 760 hp. The battery is known to have a useful capacity of 83 kWh, but Maserati has not said anything about the range.

He could have been one of the stars of the show. The MG 4 talks about it with its knockdown prices, which are revolutionizing the electric car market. But MG does not have a stand at the Mondial. To discover this compact that offers up to 450 km of autonomy from € 26,990 discounted bonus, you will have to go to the concessions!

pole star 3

Polestar can now be shown in France! Citroën no longer blocks its launch with us due to logo issues. Unfortunately, Volvo’s electric sports brand will not take advantage of this new freedom to present its models to the French public, including the SUV 3, which has just been presented in detail. In addition, the brand has not yet set a launch date in France.

Smart #1

Smart makes its revolution. The brand is now a joint venture between Mercedes and China’s Geely. The first model in this set is an electric compact SUV, which will allow Smart to target a family customer. What a shame not to take advantage of the show to publicize this revolution!

Volvo has been a rare sight at shows for a number of years, so it’s not surprising not to see it at Mondial de l’Auto. However, it has a great novelty ready to be revealed: the EX90. It is not a typographical error, this new name designates a new large electric SUV, which will become the standard bearer of the brand. Sharing its underbelly with the Polestar 3, it will put the pack in terms of safety.
