news culture Twitch takes inspiration from YouTube and adds a not-so-popular feature…
Twitch has just announced a new test feature, inspired by YouTube’s Super Chat. But Twitch seems greedier, and the reactions aren’t great…
Twitch Announces ‘Elevated Chat’ Feature Testan equivalent of what YouTube has been offering for a long time about their lives. Alone, the functionality of Twitch is even more expensiveand ask about the participation of streamers in your chat…
A new way to be seen in a Twitch chat
On Twitch, you know, you can communicate directly with a streamer writing on your cat. However, when it comes to a very popular live event, with thousands or even tens of thousands of viewers, it can be hard to read. There are already several methods to overcome this: chat can be switched to “slow mode”, which means that you will have some time without being able to speak after sending your message. This already reduces the number of messages sent per second in the chat, but it is sometimes insufficient.
To be seen in a message thread by your transmitter, if what you have to say is very important, you can also click “Star my message”. this will will cost chain pointsand it will highlight your message in the chat. For some streamers, this even shows your message directly live. Are the streamers who decide the “fee” in channel points, which allows you to adapt the price to the size of your audience. It is a system that works well, above all because allows anyone to get your message across, even someone who can’t afford to spend money on Twitch, since just be an avid viewer to accumulate points, over time. In addition, “predictions”, a betting system with chain points, allow you to earn many points at once.
But all these systems do not pay anything to Twitch, from a purely monetary point of view. So the Amazon platform found another way, by adding a feature that already exists with its competitor YouTube.
On Twitch, the more you pay…the less you get!
In fact, Twitch has announced that it’s testing a feature on certain channels, “Elevated Chat.” On YouTube, you could already use Super Chat. In paying a certain amountCan hang your message at the top of the chat for a certain time. On Youtube, the Super Chats purchased for less than 5 euros are not hung, they are only advanced. So we can put the amount you want between 5 and 500 euros. 5 euros I will hang your message for 2 minutes, 10 euros during 5 minutes, 20 euros during 10 minutes, 50 euros during 30 minutes, 100 euros during an hour, 200 euros during two hours, 300 euros during three hours, 400 euros during four hours Y 500 euros during five hours. Showing a message at the top of the chat for hours is long, but at least there are some reductions when price goes up. Indeed, if 2 minutes are worth 5 euros, 10 euros should give us “only” four minutes, and an hour should cost 150 euros, not 100 euros. That is expensive but declining (up to 100 euros). Twitch chose to do… the exact opposite.
Twitch is testing a new monetization feature: “Elevated Chat”

at[person]’s house TwitchWe have to pay at least $5 to post your message chat up or down, in “Elevated Cat”. It is logical that we cannot put fewer likes on YouTube, since the messages that are simply forwarded in the chat already exist and are paid in channel points. For $5you can post your message at the top of the chat…just Thirty seconds. For $10your message will hang for 1 minute ; for $25, 1 minute 30 ; for $50, 2 minutes ; and to $100, 2 minutes 30. That is excessively expensiveand you don’t have no sum choice. Above all, the shocking thing is that the more you pay, the less time you have ! If we take into account that 5 dollars is worth 30 seconds, then 2 minutes 30 should be worth 25 dollars, not 100 dollars!
|How long is X pinned message time on YouTube or Twitch?||YouTube Supercat||YouTube based on €5 = 2 min||YouTube based on €100 = 1 hour||Elevated Twitch Chat||Contraction based on $5 = 30 seconds||Contraction based on $100 = 2 min 30|
|1 minute 30||X||€3.75||€2.50||$25||$15||$60|
|2 minutes 30||X||€6.25||€4.17||$100||$25||$100|
Prices are shown in dollars on Twitch, as prices in euros have not been officially announced. Please note that on YouTube, $2 Super Chat = €2 Super Chat
Add to this what is not only (much) more expensive than YouTubebut it is also less practical. Indeed, on YouTube, multiple Super Chats can be shown at the same time in small bubbles to open, at the top of the chat. On Twitch, elevated chat messages are piling up in a queue, which the streamer or moderators must manage themselves. The site does not show just a raised cat at once.
Like Super Chats on YouTube, High Twitch Chat revenue will be split as follows: 70% Streamer, 30% Twitch.
The first reactions are not very happy…
Obviously this type of ad seldom pleases Internet users, and the reactions did not wait. some regret one more way for Twitch to earn money on the back of a free feature, chat. Others wonder if some streamers don’t risk overdoing it by reading only pinned messages. Above all, everyone is outraged by the Noticeable price difference between YouTube and TwitchAnd speak short time we can show a message. Especially when you realize that the more you pay, the less you get for your money…
I get that you’re trying to super chat here, but…
Why scale price instead of profit?
Why is it so expensive for such a short duration compared to YT?
And if 2½ minutes cost $100, couldn’t a viewer pay $5 every 30 seconds and save $75?

The real problem with #chatelevado us #twitch is that it just creates more sources so bigger streamers will just ignore their chats, there will be some who will only read the raised chat and deliberately ignore the rest of the chat. I would never do that I like to be inclusive #stream

Twitch is currently testing Elevated Chat on select streams, but we envision the functionality rolling out to the entire platform at a later date.
