At the ultra high end, Gigabyte offers the X670E Aorus Xtreme. This AMD socket AM5 motherboard is a “Premium” platform to accommodate a Ryzen 7000 series processor.

The X670E Aorus XTREME is Gigabyte’s current showcase for AMD’s new Ryzen 7000 series platform. It is positioned as a benchmark alongside the X670E Aorus Master and X670 Elite AX.
Its E-ATX format requires caution because you have to make sure that the case can accommodate it as it should. Its exact dimensions are 305 x 269 mm. Gigabyte promises a complete team that covers all needs, whether it is storage, RAM, graphics card or processor.
Her dress design is greatly provided by advanced thermal design. It is also at the origin of its subsequent weight.
We find a set of radiators around the socket that communicate via a heat pipe and at the level of the first M.2 port. Gigabyte uses various types of finish with nano carbon coating, brushed aluminum or even of the mirror.
The result is an understated yet spicy approach that betrays a spicy and fiery temperament. We are in a high-end environment breathing quality and over-equipment.
A backplate occupies the entire PCB surface while freeing up the rear of the socket to allow installation of a cooler. If it participates in increasing its weight, it fulfills a function of passive heat dissipation while reinforcing the rigidity of the whole.
In this criteria, we also have a reinforced PCIe x 16 port to accommodate long and heavy graphics cards. We find the same design at the level of the four memory slots and the 24-pin ATX connector.
The PCB is full of little intentions here and there.
For example, a button releases the graphics card from its housing, all six SATA connectors are at 90° angles, and an LED display lets you follow the different phases during boot.
It is especially useful in case of a problem, as the code displayed provides valuable information.
We also have a power button at the top and a reset at the bottom and even metering points for direct voltage readings. This refers, for example, to the processor, to the memory. Next to it we find a group of four LEDs called “Status LEDs”. It offers to visually check if the processor, memory, graphics solution or even the BOOT is working properly after power on.
The card is equipped with 10 x 4-pin connectors, enough to power a large number of fans and water cooling systems. Each fan header supports PWM and DC fans and a water cooling pump and offers a maximum power of 24W (12V x 2A) accompanied by over-current protection. In addition to the classic and essential CPU-Fan, we have four case fan headers (SYS-FAN 1, 2, 3, 4), four pump headers (SYS_FAN5, 6, 7, 8_PUMP), and one CPU_OPT. Two heads allow the connection of temperature probes to monitor, for example, the interior of a compartmentalized enclosure.
We also find a NOISE_Sensor connector to monitor this time the noise pollution of the configuration.
Gigabyte doesn’t overlook lighting with a dedicated area on the card. Called Aorus Animed Display, it is located at the level of the aluminum housing of the rear connectors. Highlight the Aorus logo using different colors and effects. We have several dedicated headers on the map.

Clearly, we find ourselves with the same design that Intel has been using for several years now.
As for storage, the six SATA 6Gbps ports are accompanied by four M.2 NVMe ports that support 80mm and 110mm drives. Please note that we have quick closures on each case. The SSD is fixed in its socket and then consolidated by clipping.
In all cases we have PCIe 5.0 x4/x2 cabling. RAID 0.1 and 10 modes are supported for SATA and NVMe storage drives.
To all this are added three PCIe x16 connectors. The first one is wired in PCIe 5 and the other two are PCIe 4.0 in X4 and PCIe 3.0 in X2 standards.
The reason must be found on the side of the M.2 ports by opting for PCIe 5.0. CrossFire technology is provided at x16 and x4.
The four memory slots accept a total of 128 GB of DDR5 at the frequency of 4400, 4800 and 5200 MHz. For overclocking we find support for XMP and EXPO profiles.

For audio, we have a Realtek ALC1220-VB chip (ESS ES9118 DAC) while a Marvell AQtion AQC113C solution provides a 10GbE wired network. The wireless network is also part of it using a Wi-Fi 6E AX210 solution that also provides Bluetooth 5.3.
The power supply is based on a classic 24-pin ATX but also on two 8-pin EPS.
On the rear connectors side, Gigabyte has planned to help overclockers with a Clear CMOS button to reset BIOS settings in case of overclocking too aggressively.
Next to it we find a Q-Flash button to update the card’s firmware, two antenna connectors, DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0 video outputs, four USB 2.0 Type A ports, six USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port, one RJ45, one optical S/PDIF, and two classic audio jacks.
To all this are added on the map:

This X670 Aorus XTREM offers an advanced set of features. Its mechanics and equipment are designed to meet the needs of players, but not only. Its cooling system is substantial.
